Workshop Overview:

The Cylinder Assessment Technician course is a HAZMAT, OSHA, and DOT/CTC compliant training for the visual inspection, oxygen cleaning, maintenance, and handling of high-pressure cylinders, valves, and fill station systems. Topics covered include:

  • High-Pressure Cylinders and Valves
    • Visual inspection techniques
    • Government, Industry, and Manufacturer Regulations
    • Oxygen Cleaning
    • Maintenance
    • Safe Handling Practices
  • Fill Station Systems
    • Basic Maintenance
    • Safe Operation Standards

The C.A.T. (Cylinder Assessment Technician) certification is recognized in the SCUBA, emergency services, fire suppression, food and beverage, cryogenics, and aviation industries as well as other sectors where the safe handling, visual inspection, and maintenance of high-pressure cylinders and valves is critical.

The course is broken down into knowledge development (eLearning) and practical (hands-on) training. An interactive and dynamic “eLearning” was developed to reduce the arduous classroom time covering theory, regulations, laws, ordinances, and codes (4-6 hours completed independently at your convenience). The second portion of the course focuses on inspection techniques of high-pressure cylinders, oxygen cleaning, valve service, as well as an often-overlooked fill station operation (4 hours). The hand-on portion of the course will be held at Beneath The Sea 2026 with the eLearning completed in advance.

The C.A.T. course ensures you and your team maintain the highest standard of cylinder safety, inspection integrity, and regulatory compliance. Upon completion of the C.A.T. course, graduates will be fully certified to visually inspect, oxygen clean, service, and maintain all high-pressure cylinders and valves.

Beneath the Sea is handicapped accessible. If you require special aids or services please e-mail us at info@BeneaththeSea.us or call 914.664.4310
